Depth data can be extracted from portrait photos captured using the dual camera on iPhone 7/8 Plus models or the TrueDepth front camera on iPhone X/Xs/Xs Max models. This data is saved as a PNG file in your camera roll.

You have the ability to embed any depth data back into photos, including those that originally lacked depth data. The manipulation of disparity allows for the creation of captivating 3D effects ideal for sharing on various social platforms, such as Facebook.

While Disparity is compatible with all supported iPhones, even those without a depth camera, limitations may arise in uploading 3D Photos to Facebook. Devices equipped with a depth camera like the iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone X, or newer models may offer better functionality due to Facebook's restrictions. It should be noted that Disparity itself is not responsible for this limitation.

Disparity functions as a supplementary tool rather than a full-fledged photo editor. It serves to extract and combine depth data within photos, allowing users to utilize their preferred editing software to fine-tune the depth information.

If creating a depth map from scratch, it is recommended that the map matches the aspect ratio of your target image. A width of 480 pixels is advised for optimal results, as wider maps will be resized to fit this width.
